Rod Jennings
EXCELLENT Based on 19 reviews Posted on Jay PearsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Not sure what else I can say other than Rod is a true expert, and should be your "go to" luthier. I brought a kit guitar in for some final electrical and neck/fret tuning work, and can honestly say I got my guitar back better than I was expecting, and my expectations were high to begin with. Rod was very communicative as there were challenges that needed to be addressed, but the work was outstanding and finished in the time suggested. I put a lot of time and effort into this kit, but lacked the knowledge to finish the build, and the work Rod did made this kit a trully great guitar. I will not be going anywhere else in the future.Posted on Jonathan SteeleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Keen eye for detail and top craftsmanship. We are blessed to have such a great luthier in Muskoka!Posted on DENNIS VAN TYGHEMTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What more needs to be said after reading some of these reviews? I took my Gibson j45 to Rod Jennings, after failed warranty work was done by two different technicians. Now my new j45 looks, plays, and sounds as it should. Rod is passionate, knowledgeable, and very talented, and looks at every detail, as it was his own guitar. I only wish all business people were as thorough, and caring about their customers, his love of music, and musical instruments certainly shines through. I now have my instrument repair technician, who I can trust, and a new friend. Thank's Rod, I will be bringing my 12 string takamine for repairs and set-up in the near future. I have a 1965/66 vintage Höfner 500/1 "Beatle" bass that I got second hand from a pawn shop sometime around 1971. It had definitely seen better days. The neck had pulled away from the body and lifted so high that the action could not be lowered without removing the adjusting nuts in the bridge. In 1995 I sent pictures to Mandolin Brothers in New York asking if it could be repaired. Their response was, "When a Beatle Bass comes in [with this] problem, we have to turn it away. They require expensive repairs to be made right." About 25 years later, I started looking for a local luthier who would do the job. Any who responded said no. I had given up looking until Get Rhythm Guitarworks was recommended by a friend whose advice I trust. Definitely a perfect recommendation. I took the instrument to Rod in March. He looked at it and said he could do it. I saw some of his other work and had no difficulty handing it over to him; his work is impeccable. Rod kept me in the loop via text and email whenever things required my input. After some delay (not Rod's fault), I picked it up yesterday (June 7). It looks better than new, but the finish is perfect in that it shows the grain and you can feel it, just like a vintage guitar should do! You can see pictures of it in a post on the Get Rhythm Guitarworks Facebook page. The post is dated 3 June at 23:02 (who works that late?). I have only had time to play it for a couple of hours since then, but let me tell you, it plays easier than it ever did, and it sounds better than it ever did while in my possession. Neck reset, new tuners, new pick guard (hand made by Rod), new nut, finish completely stripped and redone, new frets (although not needed, Rod wanted to refinish the fretboard and the best way to do that was to remove the old frets). He even put some fret markers on the side of the neck, something I had been missing for years. I didn't think that could be done, but they look like they have been there since day one. Well worth the drive to Bracebridge. I will be recommending Get Rhythm Guitarworks to anyone who asks. Definitely gets a rating of 12 out of 10.Posted on Stephen FrancisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Rod is a true master luthier. Brought my guitar here for a set up, clean and some electronic issues. Guitar sparkled like never before, played better than ever and all electrical issues were fixed! 10/10 would recommend:)Posted on Cathy GrayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful experience! We brought two vintage mandolins in for service, one of which was unplayable after a botched repair by another luthier. Rod returned both instruments to us sounding exquisite and feeling beautiful - both a joy to play now. Pricing was reasonable and service time was excellent. We would heartily recommend this business and will be back ourselves.Posted on David NealTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wow. Just picked up my newly restored 55 J45...hard to believe it is the same guitar....Rod did his magic! I couldn't have asked for anything better...incredible expert at his craft...very highly recommended....if you have a vintage guitar in need of a restoration look no further then Rod.. you will not be disappointed! Thanks again Rod for bringing new life to an Ole gem😉Posted on Peter ChristensenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am very very pleased with my experience...Rod is a very knowledgable and friendly person but moreover he does great work, (as anyone will see when you visit his shop) Rod can do it all! My situation was a expensive guitar (Taylor) with the bridge lifting off the soundboard and slightly high action of the strings. I was sure it would involve re and re of the bridge at the least..but Rod looked it over and suggested he could reglue it with epoxy glue without removing the bridge, a much less invasive and less expensive procedure. A few days later and the job was complete, not only did the epoxy work but it also returned the action back to normal. I am enjoying the guitar finally and I will certainly be returning at some point later for a full setup and would definately recommend this shop to anyone!!
